Rules and Information for the Camp
Contact Jim Parker for the combination to the gate (text 801-319-4291 or email campcreager@gmail.com)
Follow all BSA rules for safety, including climbing, swimming, fires etc.
The waterfront at the beach is generally safe to use for swimming, but please check for new hazards that may have drifted down the river. Any swimming must follow the BSA's Safe Swim Defense.
All boating activities involving the camp must follow the BSA's Safety Afloat, and the unit should file a float plan with the Scouting America New Hampshire Council.
This is a carry-in-carry-out camp. Please follow Leave No Trace Principles including taking your trash with you.
Avoid walking near the steep embankments along the river. Cave-ins are frequent.
Do not cut live trees without permission. Standing deadwood should be left in place for wildlife. Fallen deadwood may be used for firewood. Any firewood you use should be replaced to be sure the next groups will have some to start their visit.
There is a seasonal fire permit that goes from April 1 until December 31. Use Scout safety guidelines and restrictions on the fire permit. "Cooking Fires" are what is permitted. Fires are to be only in approved fire pits. Fire buckets are located in the latrine. Please return when done, so they won't break or wash away.
There is no potable water at the camp. Use river water for fire protection. If you need drinking water, it is available at the hose spigot at the Huber's house, just outside the gate.
There is poor cell phone reception at the camp, but you can usually receive at Wilson Hill Rd.
We encourage parking in the area along the road outside the camp. This prevents erosion from too many vehicles in the camp. There are times when you cannot drive into the camp, due to flooding or soft ground. At that time the combination may be changed on the lock at the gate.
Tick treatments are done in three times a year, starting in May, by the New Hampshire Council.
The various Troops who use Camp Creager do maintenance regularly. Thanks to all for their help.
